FR stands for “flame-retardant” and “flame resistant,” which helps to slow the burning when materials are exposed to open flames. All car seats sold in the US are required to meet the federal Flammability of Interior Materials standard (FMVSS 302), often achieved by adding brominated and chlorinated chemicals.

Yes, thanks to the tightly woven fabric construction (non-wool), your cover is safe to machine wash and dry to get back on the road faster. And there is no added FR chemical treatment for the agitation cycle to break down. Always refer to your car seat cover care label for specific instructions and be sure to replace the cover after 30 washes, to help ensure optimal quality and prevent fading.
