From grocery store runs to pediatrician checkups, from weekends at the park to afternoons at the farmer’s market, your child’s stroller has seen it all. Over time, it can become a magnet for crumbs, spills, and the inevitable dirt. That’s why it’s important to learn how to clean your stroller properly. Routine cleaning is a great way to keep your stroller looking fresh and working correctly so you and your child can continue to enjoy smooth, comfortable outings.

Here are a few simple tips for keeping your Britax stroller clean and ready for wherever the journey takes you.

Step-by-Step Cleaning and Care

1. Crumb Buster

Begin by sweeping out or vacuuming your stroller with a handheld vacuum to remove crumbs and debris, paying extra attention to the nooks and crannies where the backrest meets the seat.

2. Fabric Refresh

Tackle the harness, fabric areas, and fabric accessories with cold water and a gentle soap, using a damp cloth for an overall cleanse. For tougher spots, a soft fabric brush or an old toothbrush can work wonders without damaging the material. DO NOT use abrasives, solvents, strong detergents, or household cleaners, as these can damage or weaken the materials.

Pat the fabric dry with a towel and let it air-dry completely, ideally in a well-ventilated area.

Most fabric components of Britax strollers must be cleaned by hand as described above. However, there are a few exceptions:

Always refer to the fabric care labels on your stroller seat insert for washing instructions. If your insert is missing a care label, reach out to Customer Service.

3. Frame and Brake Check

Inspect the stroller’s parking brake and adapter system (if applicable) for debris that could impede functionality. Test the brake to ensure that both wheels are locked when the brake is engaged.

Use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean the frame, wheels, and other non-fabric components and accessories like cup holders and trays. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the finish or compromise the material’s strength. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away excess water and soap.

Pro Tip: The child snack tray and cup holder inserts that come with the Phases stroller are dishwasher-safe for quick and easy cleanup.

4. Buckle & Harnes Check

It’s important to note that the shoulder and hip straps of the harness can be separated for cleaning, but they should always be used together to secure your child. After spot-cleaning the harness and wiping down the buckle, test the buckle to ensure it locks securely into place with an audible click. If the buckle is not functioning properly, ensure that all crumbs and debris have been removed and test the buckle again. 5. Smart Storage

Proper storage is key to extending the life of your stroller. Be sure it’s completely dry before folding and storing to help prevent rust or mold. Keep the stroller in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight or extreme heat, which can cause damage over time. For long-term storage, cover the stroller to protect it from dust. Avoid placing it under heavy items that could cause damage.
