Convertible Car Seats FAQs
-
No, the Galaxy360 is not certified for use on aircraft.
-

- Raven Black – sleek, urban black

All feature SafeWash® fabrics that are naturally flame-retardant, machine-washable, and dryable.
-
Yes, newborns can use the Galaxy360 starting at 5 lbs. Head and middle inserts may be used for children weighing 5-11 lbs; the lower insert must be used rear-facing from 5–22 lb. If you choose to use the head insert, it must always be paired with the middle insert.
-
If the vehicle’s head restraint prevents the Galaxy360 headrest from moving high enough or fitting properly, do not force the car seat headrest past it. Instead, raise, remove, or adjust the vehicle’s head restraint if possible. If it can’t be removed, move the car seat to a more upright position or choose a different seating location.

-
The base of the Galaxy360 must rest flat and level on the vehicle seat, with no side overhang. Up to 3 inches (7.6 cm) of the base may hang over the front edge of the vehicle seat in either rear-facing or forward-facing mode. If more than 3 inches hangs over, adjust the recline or choose a different seating position to ensure the base sits flat and parallel to the vehicle seat.

-
The Galaxy360 features a slim 17" SpaceSaver™ design, engineered for compact and multi-seat configurations without compromising comfort or safety. Britax cannot guarantee a perfect fit in every seating position. Vehicle size, seat shape, and passenger seating positions and sizes can all impact installation. If you can test seat fit in your vehicle, here are some things to check for:
- Base Overhang: The base sits flat on the vehicle seat with no side overhang. Up to 3 inches (7.6 cm) may extend past the front edge.
- Head Restraint Clearance: The vehicle’s head restraint doesn’t push against nor block the car seat head restraint from moving up. If it does, try adjusting, removing, or changing seating positions.
- Secure Installation: The seat moves less than 1 inch at the belt path and can rotate freely once installed.
-
The following types of vehicle seat belts are NOT compatible with the Galaxy360:
- lap belts with sewn-in latch plates that have a retractor that locks only in case of a sudden stop (see user guide),
- lap belts forward of the bight (see image in user guide),
- lap-shoulder belts with top or bottom anchor points on the vehicle door (see image in user guide),
- Motorized, automatic vehicle seat belts (see image in user guide),
- and inflatable lap-shoulder belts.
Always refer to your user guide and/or contact our Customer Support team if you have further questions.

-
No. When your child is ready for forward-facing in the Galaxy360, simply rotate the seat into the new position—no need to uninstall and reinstall the seat.
-
The Galaxy360 QuickStand is a built-in seat prop feature that automatically extends when the seat is opened, lifting the seat for easy access to the belt paths during installation. It holds the car seat upright at the ideal angle, making installation more intuitive.
-
SwivelSmooth is a Britax-exclusive technology on the Galaxy360. Built into the base of the seat, this steel ring features a wheels-on-steel design that allows for smooth, effortless turns. Be sure the rotation lock indicator shows black (not red) before driving.
-
Galaxy360 includes the following safety features:
- One-piece, secure frame-to-base (fewer parts) design
- An integrated anti-rebound panel on the back of the base for added rear-facing stability
- High-strength, reinforced steel frame in the base and in the seat
- Two layers of energy management with a protective shell and foam-lined headrest
- Proper use indicators, including Britax’s exclusive tether indicator (for use rear- and forward-facing), a ClickTight® indicator, and a rotation indicator
- Extended rear-facing to 50 lbs
- Naturally flame-retardant fabrics
-
While the Galaxy360 shares similar Britax engineering and safety philosophies with the rotating car seat available in Europe, this one has been specifically designed, tested, and certified to meet U.S. safety standards. It is not the same product as the Britax models sold in the European market.
-
The U.S. launch for the Galaxy360 is estimated to be March 2026. A Canadian version is estimated to follow in the first half of 2026, pending regional certification timing. Keep checking britax.ca for timing updates and availability.

Both the Poplar & Poplar S convertible car seats combine the patented ClickTight® installation system with a 17-inch (43.2 cm) slim SpaceSaver™ design, helping to ensure an easy and secure fit in your vehicle. The Poplar S offers additional features such as a removable head pad, an upper body support pillow, and a ReboundReduce™ stability bar. The Britax Convertible Car Seat Comparison Chart provides a breakdown of the similarities and differences between each of the convertible and all-in-one Britax car seats.
-
At 17 in (43.18 cm) wide, these car seats are designed to fit 3-across* in most vehicles without compromising on safety and comfort. *Britax cannot guarantee 3-across installation fitment in all vehicles.
-
The length is approximately 28.5 in (72.39 cm) when reclined on a flat surface, though this may vary depending on the vehicle's seat angle and other factors.
-
The Poplar weighs 27.2 lbs. (12.34 kg), while the Poplar S weighs 28 lbs. (12.70 kg).
-
Yes, the lower infant insert is required for children weighing 22 lbs. (10 kg) or less in a rear-facing position. Do not use it for children over 22 lbs. (10 kg) or in a forward-facing position.
-
The ReboundReduce™ stability bar helps minimize motion in the event of a crash when used in rear-facing mode. It is optional in the US but included with the Poplar S model.
-
Adjust the recline angle to a more upright position to help ensure the base makes proper contact with the vehicle seat. If you still cannot achieve proper contact, try a different seating position or contact customer service.
-
Both car seats offer a one-handed, quick-adjust headrest and harness system, eliminating the need for rethreading as your child grows.
-
Lift the harness release button, pull the harness straps forward, squeeze the harness height adjuster on the headrest, slide to the desired position, and ensure the headrest is locked into position.
-
You must use the harness pads with children weighing 22-50 lbs. (10-22.7 kg) in rear-facing mode and 22-65 lbs. (10-29.4 kg) in forward-facing positions. Store the harness pads for children under 25 lbs. (11.3 kg) in forward-facing mode when installing with a lap belt only. Harness pads may be used for children under 22 lbs. (10 kg) rear facing when proper positioning can be achieved.
-
No, the harness pads should not be permanently removed.
-
Use the buckle slot closest to your child but not underneath them.
-
Yes, either the cup holders or the included cup holder caps must be used during travel for proper functionality and safety.
-
Yes, replacement cup holders and cup holder caps are available on the Britax website or by contacting customer service.
-
If the appropriate recline cannot be achieved when installing the car seat rear-facing, you may use a rolled towel or pool noodle in the vehicle seat bight as described in the user guide. Never use a rolled towel or pool noodle for a forward-facing installation.
-
A convertible car seat is a child seat that converts from rear-facing for infants and small toddlers to forward-facing for older children. Britax convertible car seats can accommodate children weighing up to 65 pounds (29.5 kg).
-
Refer to the user guide for specific car seat and date of manufacture details to determine when your child has outgrown the seat.
-
Ensuring that the Britax Poplar and Poplar S car seats are correctly installed is crucial for your child's safety. The black positioning runners on the bottom of the car seat's base must rest entirely flat on your vehicle's seat, however the space beyond the runners’ outside edges is permitted to overhang the vehicle seat edge. You are also permitted to have up to 3 inches (7.5 cm) of the base extending beyond the front edge of your vehicle's seat in either rear-facing or forward-facing modes, as illustrated in our user guide. If the shape of your vehicle's seat prevents the base from making adequate contact, adjusting the car seat to a more upright recline angle may be necessary to help ensure proper installation.
Remember: It is essential that the black base positioning runners on the bottom of the car seat's base not only sit flat on the vehicle's seat but also remain parallel to it. This configuration is crucial to help ensure the car seat performs as intended in the event of a collision.
